A Healthy Scalp Is A Healthy You
Shiny and voluminous hair is not only a sign of beauty but health as well. And who doesn’t want to flaunt luscious locks? Hours of styling and using expensive products is not the answer.
The journey to healthy hair is a life-long drive and it begins with your scalp. If your scalp is dry, greasy and unhealthy, your hair will be frail which will eventually lead to serious illness such as thinning hair and even hair loss. Maintaining a healthy scalp is what’s imperative for healthy hair growth. Your scalp is, simply put, the soil without which your hair cannot grow.
A good way to think of your hair and scalp is that your hair is like a flower garden. Your roots and scalp are like the roots and flower bed. Without nourishing, moisturizing and taking care of your scalp, your hair (just like the flowers) cannot realize its full potential. From harsh products to ruthless brushing many of the things we do daily are damaging to our roots and scalp.
Have A Grease-Free Scalp
Avoid putting styling products such as various oils and pomades directly on the scalp. This will clog pores and worsen your current condition. Pregnant women should especially pay attention to this as the oily scalp is a common problem during pregnancy due to hormonal imbalance.
Be Gentle During Care
Paying big bucks for the latest volumizing shampoo will not help you build volume. Quite the contrary, if you already have certain scalp disorder, strong products will only irritate your scalp more. Majority of such shampoos consist of ammonium and other harsh ingredients which strip your hair of its natural oils leaving your scalp dry. It is recommended to use a clarifying shampoo every two weeks to remove products that have build up over time. Regardless of how well rinse your hair, some percentage of products stays and if not removed causes damage to hair follicles. Also, try using mild shampoos.
No Aggressive Styling
Women defend many styling routines convincing themselves that being beautiful requires pain. Be gentle and your scalp will reward you with beautiful hair. Tight Braiding, tight ponytails, permanent hair straightening, etc. are just a few of numerous aggressive styling techniques that can cause severe damage to hair follicles. Once a hair follicle gets damaged it is very hard to return to its original state of functioning.
Stimulate Your Scalp
In the same way, you feel energized after exercise, giving your scalp a good massage helps to increase blood circulation to your scalp, stimulating the cells and promoting cell reproduction and hair growth. Massaging your scalp not only leads to healthy hair but can help to relieve migraines, headaches and back pain, reduce feelings of anxiety and depression, renews energy levels, relieve insomnia and even boost memory capabilities.
Be Healthy
A healthy lifestyle is a key to a healthy scalp and healthy hair growth. Avoid junk high-calorie foods and increase the intake of vitamins, organic and nutrient-rich foods. Also, avoid alcohol, smoking and adopt a healthy exercise routine.
